The Hammerhead Round-Up (Borrego)

Join us for the 2025 Hammerhead Roundup in beautiful Borrego Springs, California!

By day, fly in the world's finest, permanently-waivered aerobatic box with markers larger than CIVA standards. By night, trade laughs with some of the world's finest pilots at a relaxing desert resort.

At the airport ... the box is right next to the 5,000-foot runway, and for those not flying on-site accommodations including an observation deck and access to an air-conditioned restaurant/bar allowing if needed escape from the desert heat

LODGING

Most contestants stay at the Borrego Springs Resort where we will have block room pricing. Call them at (760) 767-5700 and ask for the "Aerobatic Pilots Rate". Reserve early as they sell out!

If no rooms are available at the resort, try Casa Del Zoro at (760) 767-0100

>> Block rooms in place - call the resort and mention our aerobatics rate!

TRANSPORTATION

Rental cars, Uber, and Lyft are usually not available.

The Borrego Springs Resort has a free shuttle you can call on demand. It's a 5-minute ride. Enough people have their cars available and are happy to help. Transportation has never been a problem so far.

NEW CHALLENGE FOR SPORTSMAN
“LAST MINUTE FREE” (TENTATIVELY)
We are exploring the possibility of adding a “last minute free” to the contest.
The idea is to share an optional free sequence (designed by the organizers to be K and Aresti compliant as a Free sequence for Sportsman) the day of registration for those willing to try to fly it as their 2nd free flight at the contest. Similar to an unknown, but with more time to look at it and be able to fly it during the practice slot if desired. A new type of challenge that could be fun to try. We are working with IAC to define the parameters as a rule deviation to ensure it is safe and stays in the spirit of progression from Primary to Sportsman to Intermediate (only competitors with prior contest experience and having scored at least 75% in a free flight would be allowed to try this new format).

Special prizes would be handed out to those with the courage to fly this new format! Stay tuned ...

IAC36 always trying to innovate!
