Ladies and Gentlemen, Acro Pilots of the world, Buckle Up! The 1st Ever Torrington Tailslide AcroRodeo is calling aerobatics pilots and IAC club members to KTOR for an event that's set to redefine the thrill of competition. Nestled on the eastern edge of Wyoming, Torrington is not just a dot on the map; it's a vibrant community echoing with the rich tapestry of the Wild West, a town where history is not just remembered but lived.  From the Western Plains Historic Park, where you can walk through the past with exhibits of early 20th-century life, to the charming downtown with its cowboy-themed boutiques and saloons, or even enjoy a leisurely stroll by the North Platte River, where the tranquility of nature contrasts beautifully with the adrenaline of aerobatics.

This contest isn't just another notch in your belt; it's an opportunity to be part of history. The 1st Ever Torrington Tailslide AcroRodeo embraces a new approach to contests, blending the traditional with a Wild West flair.  You're not just competing; you're partaking in an event where the community rallies around you. Local residents will cheer you on, turning each portion of the competition into a spectacle of community spirit and aviation prowess.  Where your skills will be celebrated not just in the air but in the heart of the town, with music, laughter and the roar of the airplane engines echoing through the skies.

Because of the generosity of the community of Torrington and the KTOR airport a fuel discount and free hangar space is available for all competitors.

Location and Coordinates: The airport is located 2 miles east of Torrington, Wyoming, with coordinates at N42°3.87' / W104°9.16'.

Elevation: The surveyed elevation of the airport is 4,206 feet MSL

Crosswind Runway:

  - Runway 10/28: 5,703 feet long by 75 feet wide, asphalt surface.

  - Runway 2/20: 3,401 feet long by 60 feet wide, also asphalt.

LODGING

In order to secure rooms we had to book and pay for them early, we are not the only game in town that weekend and rooms are scarce! We have two options and limited space at each; first come, first served:

Americas Best Value Inn: 85.50 plus tax. Rooms vary.

Holiday Inn Express: 161.50 plus tax for rooms with 2 queen beds.

TRANSPORTATION

There will be plenty of contestants, volunteers, and residents with cars for transportation to and from the hotels. We also have a bus and driver available. 

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Thursday, May 15th:

• 0900 to 1100:  Box set-up
• 1100 to Sunset: Practice (unofficial)

Friday, May 16th:

• 0700  to 1500:  Registration
• 0830 to Sunset:  Official Practice 
• Sunset:  Pizza Party at the main hanger

Saturday, May 17th:

• 0700 to 0800:  Mandatory Pilot Briefing
• 0830 to Sunset:  Contest Flying until 2 flights are complete for each category.
• Sunset:  Cocktail Hour and Cowboy BBQ 

Sunday, May 18th:

• 0700 to 0800:  Mandatory Pilot Briefing
• 0830 to 1300:  Contest Flying until 3rd flights are complete for each category.
• 1400:  Awards Ceremony 

Entry Fee: Early Bird $175.00 by May 1st, Normal $200.00 May 1st - 14th, 

Late $250.00 at registration.
